The Warrenton Rotary Club will hols a “Flip to Read” pancake dinner on Thursday, October 25th, at Mariam Boyd Elementary School in Warrenton as the first in a series of fundraisers to support a club initiative to provide books for local third-grade students.
“The Rotary Club wants to help improve the literacy of all Warren County third-graders by buying books for all thrid-graders,” said Rotary President-Elect Bill Miller as he discussed the fundraiser during the Board of Education’s Sept. 11th meeting.
The club plans to purchase sets of books for third graders at Mariam Boyd, South Warren and Vaughan elementary schools, and Northside K-8 School.
The October 25th pancake dinner will raise funds to purchase books for Mariam Boyd’s third-grade students. The all-you-can-eat event will be held from 5:30-8:00p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Plates are $7 each and will include pancakes, sausage, milk and iced tea. Take-out plates are also available.
Miller told the board of education that another fundraiser is planned for 2019 to benefit a different school. The Rotary Club will focus on one school each year until the four schools have received books.
