Our Principal's Message
I am Shelia Washington, the new principal at Nothside Elementary School. I received my education from North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro NC. I have worked in Wilson, Guilford, Alamance and Forsyth County Schools. I have taught second and third grade students. I have also been the Site Director for summer school also in Guilford County. All of my experiences have been in North Carolina Public Schools. I have worked with a wide range of school populations. For that, I know that all children can learn, and all children have a desire to learn, even when they think they do not.
I am a strong believer that students bring potential and challenge. We cannot rest upon the past to build the future. Instead, we must continue to move forward, ever learning, growing, and progressing in our knowledge of methodology and curriculum to help students be able to compete in a demanding global environment. To accomplish this means communication and commitment among home, school, and community to support our students by creating a school that offers ways to meet different learning styles, different learning paces, and the challenges of a growing body of knowledge.
