We Love Our Teachers Wednesday: Spotlight on Mrs. Beale, 1st Grade Teacher

“The Influence of a Good Teacher Can Never Be Erased”

In Mariam Boyd’s fist ever “Teacher Spotlight,” we highlight first grade teacher, Sherry Beale who has worked as an integral part of our Mariam Boyd family and served in a variety of teaching roles throughout the past 5 years. We sat down with Mrs.Beale to discuss how her classroom has been functioning in the midst of the school closings, and take a peek into her daily routine.

1) What have you been working on to ensure students are still learning during our school closure?

I have been calling, texting, and Class Dojo-ing parents everyday.  I have met with students using Google Meet, and I send pictures of the reading story for the week or parents can go on YouTube for a live read aloud. Students are working on the computer to do Iready reading and math, Espark, and  Epic to read free online books. Just trying to stick closely to the routine we had in the classroom.

2) What do you miss most about being in school?

Just being in the classroom with my students, seeing my student’s faces and hearing their voices, and also Mariam Boyd staff!

3) What advice would you give your students during this unprecedented time?

Stay home and stay safe, wash your hands a lot, and we will see each other at school hopefully really soon! Work on your packet a little each day to take your mind off of the covid19!

Mariam Boyd thanks Mrs. Beale for her hard work and unwavering dedication to her students! We love and appreciate you for all that you do! Stay tuned for more Teacher and student spotlights highlighting the awesome things happening at Mariam Boyd!
