Good Afternoon Northside K-8 Parents: Just to keep you informed we are finalizing all information that will be going out to parents prior to the start of our exciting virtual online school year. It is official that all students will receive a chromebook, and the rental fee will be $20 in cash per child for the whole school year. We are waiting for the chromebooks to arrive in order to set a distribution date. The chromebooks will come fully loaded with all the programs your child will need to access. There will be a simply one step login which will allow your child to access all the fantastic learning programs. An online and hardcover textbook adoption was also approved at the last school board meeting. Teachers will be trained on all computer software and textbook adoptions. We are still on schedule to begin virtual school on August 17, 2020. I will reach out to you again via Facebook, Twitter, school website, and robo call when I have more information. Northside Reopening of School Update: The Warren County School Board approved Plan C regarding the reopening of the Warren County Public Schools. The selection of Plan C means that online only instruction will take place for the first quarter of the school year.
Attention Warren County Schools parents. After carefully reviewing the data that you provided in a recent survey, we are making plans for the 2020-21 school year based on your feedback. Parents that are interested in their student(s) participating in an all online learning environment next year will need to complete an application to participate in our Virtual Academy. We are also asking parents that do not plan to allow their students to ride the school bus next year to complete an opt-out form so that we can plan on the number of students that will be riding buses.. Northside Parent Reminder: Teachers have already made contact with parents reminding them to pick up their child's items left at school no later than July 23, 2020 by 3:00 p.m. No items will be kept after that date, due to health safety reasons. Pick up days are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. If you need a different time, please contact the school. In addition, the semester calendar has been adopted as the Warren County Schools calendar for all schools. Currently students start school again on August 17, 2020. Of course, this may be subject to change depending upon Governor Roy Cooper. Northside K-8 Parents: Posting Correction: End of the year promotion celebrations for milestone transitions PreK, Kindergarten, Fifth grade and Eighth grade are currently being worked on. Sixth grade entered previously was incorrect. On behalf of the staff members at Northside K-8 School we would like to wish you a safe Memorial Day Holiday. Slots are filling up fast for the PreK and Kindergarten program here at Northside K-8 School. Please look out for more information on a virtual parent meeting that will be scheduled for the month of June. Parents will be able to participate in the meeting via phone or online. The meeting will provide you with the latest updates as the school year is coming to an end soon. Enrollment for all programs will end on May 12, 2020. Food Lion will partner for the second time with Warren County Schools for a gift card giveaway. On April 30, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., $20 Food Lion gift cards will be given out at Warren County High School. The gift cards will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis when parents pick up student meals. There will be a limit of one gift card per vehicle. The Warren County Schools Nutrition Department will be providing meals during Spring Break which is April 6th through 9th at Warren County High School ONLY from 10:30 am - 3:00 pm. Northside and Vaughan will be closed during that time and both sites will reopen Tuesday April 14th. All sites will be closed on Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th.

Good Afternoon Northside K-8 Parents, Just a reminder, that student learning track out packets were given out on March 13, 2020 directly to your child. If your child was absent, your child’s teacher has left the packet here at school. Student track out work packets may be picked up starting today, March 16, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and tomorrow Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All packets are to be completed and due back to classroom teachers when track out has ended. Teachers will be checking work and grading assignments. Teachers are also contacting parents and providing them with iReady and Istation computer login information. Students are encouraged to do at least 30 minutes daily in the areas of reading and math. All report cards that were not picked up are being mailed today. Thank you and please be safe. Parents, Starting tomorrow, we will continue to distribute food at Vaughan ES, Northside K-8 and Warren County High School. There will be a one-time pick up of food from 11am – 4pm. This one time pick up will include a combination of breakfast and lunch/dinner items. We understand that many of our parents don’t have transportation. REPOST: Good Afternoon Northside K-8 Parents, a main water valve had to be shut off due to a pipe breaking within a classroom. As a result flooding occurred within the main hallway. We have proceeded with our regular dismissal schedule. Our students did a fantastic job following directions during this time.
