This week our school will join with thousands of other schools nationwide to celebrate “Start With Hello” Week. This program is part of the Sandy Hook Promise which was started after 20 children were killed during a mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, by parents and friends of the victims.
“Start With Hello” week focus’ on the importance of connection amongst our students, specifically targeting social isolation. We have a number of activities planned for the week to include the following:
Monday – Special introduction announcements and 3rd period activity “In My Shoes”
Tuesday – “Hey Day” – all students wear a name tag with their first name to encourage students to pay attention to the importance of names.
Wednesday – “No One Eats Alone Day” – Students are encouraged to seek out students that may isolate themselves in the cafeteria and sit down to eat and talk with them.
Thursday – Classroom activity in 1st period, “Human Bingo”
Friday – Share out “Selfie Sheet” exit tickets from Thursdays activity and decorate lobby to celebrate our week
