LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Warren County Middle School Families:

I'm extremely excited to be starting the 2024-2025 school year as your new Warren County Middle School Principal. While I might be new to some of you, this is a bit of a homecoming for me because I served as Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at WCMS in 2010. I know a lot has changed since then (for all of us!), but the one thing that has remained consistent is our commitment and dedication to our students.

I would like to share with you some background information about myself. I was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in St. Albans, New York.  Here are my credentials: I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baruch College CUNY, obtained a Master of Science in Education from Hunter College CUNY, and completed a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

I have a teaching background that spans 15 years across three different school systems. I have taught in the New York City Public School System, Durham Public School System, and Charlotte Mecklenburg Public School System. In terms of school leadership administration, I have experience in three school systems as well. I completed a Principal Internship in Durham Public Schools, served as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum in Cabarrus County Schools, and held the positions of Assistant Principal and Principal in Warren County Schools.  In total, I have around 14 years of service in administrative roles.

Some of my notable accomplishments include significantly improving student proficiency within a two-to-three-year period and receiving the recognition of Warren County Schools District Principal of the Year.

As your principal I will advocate for every student to receive a quality education in a bully-free environment where students are motivated to reach their highest potential. We will use student data to determine how to best support our students with differentiated instruction to improve academic performance. Every student will receive social and emotional support to continue fostering high self-esteem and students feeling good about themselves. The school climate here at Warren County Middle School will be one filled with love, compassion, respect, grace, and high expectations for students, as well as staff.

This year our theme is “Everyone Wins!”  If all stakeholders (students, parents, staff, district, and community) work together Warren County Middle School will be a school of distinction.  Welcome aboard everyone to what is going to be an amazing academic groundbreaking year, Go Warriors!

Sincerely,

Michelle Dunbar

Warren County Middle School Principal
