We are so excited to host our first Family Reading Night this school year on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 6-7:30 pm in the Media Center! We are trying something a little different this year with themed nights for each of our Family Reading Nights. This first one is called Books and Boba. Students come out and enjoy a bursting boba fruit drink and a snack while reading with a parent. Parents, we will have a short information session on activities you can do at home to increase literacy and learning throughout the holidays. We hope that you incorporate "Creating Holiday Learning Traditions" as a regular part of your time spent preparing for the holidays and incorporating learning time with your children at home when they are out of school.

The Science Fair Parent Presentation will start at 4pm today. To access the Google Meet Online click here : https://meet.google.com/frk-hrrj-nuo
📅 All Warren County Schools will be closed on Friday, October 17, 2025.

Greetings Vaughan Families,
This is Mrs. McMannen with your weekly updates:
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your unwavering support, partnership, and encouragement throughout this year. Your involvement has made a tremendous impact on our students’ growth and success, and we are truly grateful.
A reminder that Tuesday, June 10th, is the last day of school, and it is also an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM.
We will be having our schoolwide celebration for students tomorrow, June 9th. This is an event for students to have a little fun before summer break! We will have a water station where students who choose to participate will get wet! Please send the following items with your student on June 9th:
1. An extra change of clothes, including undergarments
2. An extra pair of shoes. Please make sure your child has a pair of shoes that you do not mind getting wet and a pair that they can change into afterwards.
3. A towel
4. Sunscreen
5. A plastic bag to put wet clothes in
We are proud of all that our students have accomplished and look forward to continuing this journey together in the upcoming school year. Have a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer! Remember, together we can change the world!

The idea is to tell the students what you do on a given day at work. You should also explain necessary skills and education for your job and the benefits of having that particular job. For example, you might have a job that uses a great deal of math or one where you need to be able to communicate and get along with lots of people, or where you need to write well, or that your job means a lot of work outside even when the weather is not great.
We have a rotating schedule where you present to a class for about 20 minutes then have five minutes to rotate groups.
Presenters with large equipment like fire trucks, etc. will be stationary and groups will rotate to you. Other presenters will have student ambassadors to assist them in moving from class to class. We can't pay you, but we will be eternally indebted to you. Each presenter has a break time to enjoy refreshments and we try to have the best refreshments since we can't pay you.
PLEASE! I'm begging you! You can reach out to me, Trina Paynter, and I'll pass your information to Mrs. Callahan, or you can call the school directly at 252-257-6802 and ask for Mrs. Callahan and tell her I was hounding you online.
THANKS!!!

Just a reminder about ordering a yearbook. The deadline is approaching quickly!

A very special thank you is extended to Warren County NCAE for their monetary donation allowing us to have cake and chips for Read Across America Week. Shown below is Norma Retzlaff, chapter president with students here at Vaughan and Mrs. McMannen.

Would you prefer one long or two short spring breaks next year? There will be one school calendar for elementary and a second calendar for middle and high schools. There are two options for both calendars:
1️⃣ Option #1 has two shorter spring breaks: 5 days in March and 5-6 days in April.
2️⃣ Option #2 has one long spring break: 10-11 days in April.
