Good Evening Parents, This is Principal Mrs. McMannen, with your weekly updates. I hope that you all had a great weekend. Our weekly covid screening will take place tomorrow, February 7th. I would like to encourage all students to participate in our weekly testing. Our weekly screenings serve as an added safeguard to keeping our students safe. Please make sure that you are sending your child to school with a mask on. Students and staff are required to wear a mask before they enter the building or get on the school bus. We are starting to have an increase in students arriving without a mask and that is unacceptable. Progress reports will be sent home Tuesday, February 8, 2022. I’m also asking you all to make sure that you are continuing to check your child’s grades in the Parent Portal on PowerSchool. If you don’t have an account please see Mrs. Paynter for a username and password. This Thursday, February 10th, is an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 pm. Let’s have some fun and see how creative we can be on 2/22/2022! I’m asking everyone to wear tutus, ties, and tennis shoes. This day will be the kick-off of us having one theme day a month from now until the end of the school year. Let’s finish strong and have some fun!. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 am. If your child is not here by 8:15 you will need to park and come sign your child in. Please don’t send your child to the door unattended because they need to be signed in by an adult. I would also like to remind you all that our student check-out time ends at 2:30 pm. Please send a note in advance if you are planning to check out your child after the 2:30 deadline. This prevents the office staff from having to decline your request. Let’s continue to work together to have a successful school year. Thanks for your continued support of Vaughan Elementary School. Let’s have a great week Eagles!

I would like to encourage all students to participate in our weekly testing. Our weekly screenings serve as an added safeguard to keeping our students safe. Good Evening Parents, This is Principal Mrs. McMannen, with your weekly updates. I hope that you all are enjoying this four-day weekend. Our weekly covid screening will take place on Wednesday, January 19th, because there is no school for students on Tuesday, January 18th. I would like to encourage all students to participate in our weekly testing. Our weekly screenings serve as an added safeguard to keeping our students safe. I will always remain transparent with you all and keep you all informed about what’s happening at Vaughan Elementary. We had 2 classes that had to be quarantined last week and several of you all reached out to me with safety concerns. The ultimate goal is to keep our students in the building for in-person learning. However, if at any time we need to return to virtual learning because of student safety I wouldn’t hesitate to make that happen. The third six-week grading period ended on January 14th. Please make sure that you are continuing to check your child’s grades in the Parent Portal on Power School. If you don’t have an account please see Mrs. Paynter for a username and password. We are officially at the halfway mark of the school year. Let’s finish strong and work together to close learning gaps and improve student achievement. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 am. If your child is not here by 8:15 you will need to park and come sign your child in. Please don’t send your child to the door unattended because they need to be signed in by an adult. However, if your child is sick or displaying any covid symptoms please don’t send them to school. Our weekly Covid screenings will resume tomorrow. Good Morning, According to Law Enforcement sources, several states have reported seeing warnings across TikTok, the social media platform, about shootings and bombings set to occur in schools nationwide on Friday December 17. Both NCDPI and the NC Department of Public Safety have communicated these are not imminent threats. To reiterate, currently there are no known specific threats to any schools in North Carolina and none specific to our schools in our district. Have a safe winter break!

Good Evening Vaughan Elementary School Family, I am excited to share with you two events that will be held at our school this week. On Tuesday night, October 26th, we will hold our Annual Title One Information Meeting at 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm. We are offering 2 sessions of the same information in case you have more than one child at Vaughan Elementary School. Each session will begin with Principal McMannen in the Vaughan Elementary School Meeting google classroom to learn about what a Title One school is and how that money is spent at Vaughan. Then you will join your child’s teacher in their google classroom to learn more about your child’s curriculum for this year and what the expectations are for their grade level. On Thursday night October 28th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Vaughan Elementary school will be holding a drive through Trunk or Treat. Parents, you will drive your child through the main parking lot and teachers will hand you candy from the trunks of their cars.. Students are encouraged to dress up but everyone MUST STAY IN THE VEHICLE. We are excited about these two events and we look forward to seeing you at both. Have a great week!
