Good Evening Parents, This is Principal Mrs. McMannen, with your weekly updates. I hope that you all had a great weekend. Our weekly covid screening will take place tomorrow, March 21st. I would like to encourage all students to participate in our weekly testing. Our weekly screenings serve as an added safeguard to keeping our students safe. Parents we had excellent attendance for our virtual parent-teacher conferences. Several of our classes had 100% participation. If you were not able to attend your child’s conference please reach out to their teacher to reschedule. Thanks for your patience as we continue to improve our morning and afternoon carpool. We’re asking that you remain in your car at all times. The staff member at that cone will open the door to unload or load your child into the car. We are also requesting that you do not pull out of the lineup and drive around the cars that are in front of you. That creates a safety issue for the staff unloading the vehicles in front of you. Thursday, March 24th, is an early release day. School will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Thanks for your continued support of Vaughan Elementary School.

Good Evening, The start time for Prekindergarten Registration on Thursday, March 17, 2022, has been changed to 9:00 a.m. and will end at 7:00 p.m. This means that Prekindergarten Registration is now from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thanks for your continued support.

Good Evening Parents, I have some updated information that is strictly for our Prekindergarten Families. Our primary goal for all students is safety. To help us maintain a safe morning arrival for our prekindergarten students the following changes have been made: Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16, 2022, prekindergarten students will unload in the bus parking lot at 7:50 a.m. This change will allow parents to be able to converse with Mrs. Barnes and Ms. Carroll during the morning arrival. If parents have older kids here at Vaughan Elementary they can all be dropped off together in the bus parking lot. This change is only for the morning arrival. Prekindergarten parents will use the regular carpool line for the afternoon dismissal. Prekindergarten students will not have school Thursday, March 17, or Friday, March 18, 2022. Just a Reminder..... We have Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, March 17, from 1-7 pm and Friday, March 18, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. If you have not received a notice from your child's teacher to schedule a time to discuss your child's progress ASAP. Due to Parent/Teacher Conferences, there will be an Early Dismissal on Thursday, March 17, at 12:30 pm and there will be NO SCHOOL at all on Friday, March 18. We look forward to seeing you!

Pre-K Registration is coming up on March 17 from 1-7 pm and March 18 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. There is limited space and screenings will be done live on these days. Child must be 4 years old by 8/31/2022. Need: Birth Certificate (Official copy) Shot Record Social Security Card Health Assessment (Due 30 days after enrollment) Proof of Income (One full month consecutively, or W-2 form) Proof of Residence (Light bill, water bill, gas bill) Parent ID

Kindergarten Registration is coming up on April 14, 2022 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Please bring : *Your child *Their OFFICIAL birth certificate *Their SS card *Their shot record *Proof of residency *Your driver's license or ID See the attached flyer for more information!

I would like to encourage all students to participate in our weekly testing. Our weekly screenings serve as an added safeguard to keeping our students safe. . We will begin a new and improved carpool system tomorrow, Monday, March 14, 2022. For our morning carpool, you will now drive up to cones that are numbered 1-5. We will be unloading in increments of 1-5. I will be directing traffic, so you will know when it’s okay to pull up. The staff member at that cone will open your door and let your child out. We are asking that you do not let your child out of the vehicle unless you are at one of the numbered cones and a staff member is there to help unload them. We are also requesting that you do not pull out of the lineup and drive around the cars that are in front of you. That creates a safety issue for the staff that is unloading the cars in front of you. During our afternoon dismissal, all parents will be required to drive through the carpool line. There will not be any walk-ups to get your child. This means that you must remain in your vehicle. When you enter the carpool line you will be told which cone to stop at, your child will be brought to that cone, and a staff member will load them into your vehicle. Again we are asking that you don’t get out of the lineup and drive around the cars in front of you. This process will help improve our student safety during arrival and dismissal. I am asking for your cooperation and patience as we all work together to keep our students safe. This Thursday, March 1t7th, is an early release day. This week is Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Week. We will be having spirit week and several school activities to celebrate Read Across America Week. A flyer was sent home and it is also posted on our school’s webpage. The themes for this week are the following: Oh, the Places You’ll Go Monday - Wear a college shirt. Top Hat Tuesday - Wear your favorite hat. Wacky Wednesday - Wear your wackiest socks. Snoozy Thurzzzday - Wear your favorite pajamas. Green Eggs and Ham Friday - Wear green. I am so excited about the things our students will get to experience this week! If your child is not here by 8:15 you will need to park and come sign your child in. Please don’t send your child to the door unattended because they need to be signed in by an adult. I would also like to remind you all that our student check-out time ends at 2:30 pm. Please send a note in advance if you are planning to check out your child after the 2:30 deadline. This prevents the office staff from having to decline your request. Mrs. McMannen would like to encourage all parents to sign up for Parent Portal access. Mrs. Paynter has received several emails recently requesting access to students' Powerschool through Parent Portal. We are starting to have an increase in students arriving without a mask and that is unacceptable. Let’s have some fun and see how creative we can be on 2/22/2022!
