Good Evening Parents, This is Principal Mrs. McMannen with your weekly updates. I hope that you all had a great weekend. This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Please make this a special week for your child’s teacher. A flyer was sent home and I will also send a text each day to remind you of the theme for the next day. All kindergarten through fifth-grade students will take the iReady Reading and Math end-of-the-year assessments this week. Monday is reading and Wednesday is math. Please make sure that your child brings his/her chromebook fully charged to school each day and their headphones/earbuds. They will use them for the iReady assessments. Students also need to be well-rested. Please encourage your child to go to bed early and to do their best. Our Global Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2022. More information will be sent home. We will also be having a spring music program Thursday, May 12th. A lot of great things are happening at Vaughan Elementary and I am so happy that you all are able to experience them with us. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 am. If your child is not here by 8:15 you will need to park and come sign your child in. Please don’t send your child to the door unattended because they need to be signed in by an adult. It's Sprit Week for End of Year testing! Monday: Wear red, white, and blue. Tuesday: Wear a crazy hat. Wednesday: Wear cool shades. Thursday: Show your favorite team or college. Friday: School pride! Wear your school colors.

Good Evening Parents, This is Principal Mrs. McMannen with your weekly updates. I hope that you all had a great weekend. We had great attendance at our Sweet Treats and Story Time! The students that presented did an excellent job. Thank you all for supporting this event. Our weekly Covid screenings will resume tomorrow. Students that have returned the new consent form will continue to be screened every Monday. A new form was sent home because insurance information has to be provided to be tested. Kindergarten Registration is Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you have a child that turns 5 by August 31, 2022, they are eligible to attend kindergarten. All kindergarten through third-grade students will have their mCLass end-of-the-year assessment this week. Please make sure that your child is well-rested and that you encourage them to do their best. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2nd - May 6th. Vaughan Elementary Kindergarten Registration Will Be Rescheduled For April 26, 2022 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Children must be 5 years of age on or before August 31, 2022 to register! Please bring the following with you in order to register: 1. Your Child 2. Child’s Official Birth Certificate 3. Child’s Social Security Card 4. Child’s Immunization Records (Shot Records) 5. Proof of Residency (Electric Bill, Lease Agreement) 6. Parent’s Driver’s License or ID * April 14th will now be a wellness day for students and staff. There will be no school for students.

Only students who provided their insurance information will be screened. The federal government no longer pays for Covid 19 screenings. Wearing a mask is now optional for all students and staff. However, I need your help with keeping everyone safe. If your child has symptoms of Covid 19, please do not send them to school. Our 3rd, 4th, and, 5th grade students will take the NC Check-In assessments this week. The NC Check-In schedule is the following: Tuesday, April 6th, Reading NC Check-In Wednesday, April 7th, Math NC Check-In Thursday, April 8th, Science NC Check-In for just our 5th-grade students Spring Picture Day is Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Spring Picture Day is Tuesday, April 12, 2022. We will not have our weekly Covid 19 screenings tomorrow. Testing will resume on April 4, 2022. Good Evening Parents, Vaughan Elementary is planning activities for Career Day 2022. Career Day 2022 is scheduled for April 8, 2022. The Career Day Planning Committee would like to have you or someone from your business serve as a presenter at Career Day. Please contact Mrs. Callahan before March 25th, if you are interested. Thursday, March 24th, is an early release day. School will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 25th is a March Madness Spirit Day. Please wear your favorite college team shirt.
