WECHS has a graduation requirement of 60 hours of service learning. This is an opportunity for scholars to give back to their community by volunteering their time. We recognize students who accumulate 100 or more of service learning hours. These scholars have received a black honor cord to wear for graduation.

Phi Theta Kappa is a VGCC academic honor society. To be qualify, scholars must currently be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree program, have completed at least 12 hours of course work leading to an associate degree, and have a grade point average of 3.5. These scholars have received an orange cord to wear at graduation for this honor.

The NC Academic Scholar is recognized by the state and is one of the most challenging honors to receive. Scholars who receive this honor have an unweighted high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have complete all requirements for a high school diploma.
This honor is represented by a silver honor cord and a diploma seal of recognition that will be attached to their diploma.
