Our Freshman Orientation/Commitment & Signing Night was a HUGE success! Our scholars and their families learned all about WECHS. At the end of our program, our newest scholars, with the support of their families, signed their commitment contracts.
Our freshman transition program is a 2-part process aimed to smooth the transition from middle school to early college. The second part of the process will be Freshman Academy, which will be held on Monday, June 27-Tuesday, June 28.

WECHS has a graduation requirement of 60 hours of service learning. This is an opportunity for scholars to give back to their community by volunteering their time. We recognize students who accumulate 100 or more of service learning hours. These scholars have received a black honor cord to wear for graduation.

Phi Theta Kappa is a VGCC academic honor society. To be qualify, scholars must currently be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree program, have completed at least 12 hours of course work leading to an associate degree, and have a grade point average of 3.5. These scholars have received an orange cord to wear at graduation for this honor.

The NC Academic Scholar is recognized by the state and is one of the most challenging honors to receive. Scholars who receive this honor have an unweighted high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have complete all requirements for a high school diploma.
This honor is represented by a silver honor cord and a diploma seal of recognition that will be attached to their diploma.

Introducing our newest member of the Alpha Sigma Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa! We would like to congratulate Clariza Ramirez!
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. The society provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, lively fellowship for scholars, and stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. Membership is by invitation only. Students must currently be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree program, have completed at least 12 hours of course work leading to an associate degree, and have a grade point average of 3.5.
