Congratulations to Ms. Regalado and Ms. Aumentado for being selected to participate in the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL) eXperience for Educators @ BTEC at NC State University this summer! 🎉🎉
This highly selective program brings together K–12 STEM educators from across North Carolina for an immersive, hands-on learning experience in biomanufacturing and biotechnology—fields that are shaping the future of medicine, vaccines, and advanced materials. Over two days, they will explore biomanufacturing fundamentals, including upstream and downstream processes, take part in a real-world industry site visit with biotech professionals, engage in hands-on classroom-ready lab activities, and gain curriculum resources aligned to standards.
"We are proud to see our teachers continuing to grow professionally and bring meaningful, real-world science experiences back to our students,” said Dr. Kato, WCHS Principal. “By bringing industry-relevant experiences into the classroom, we are preparing our scholars for future careers in high-demand STEM fields."
We all are extremely proud of Ms. Regalado and Ms. Aumentado!

NC State University’s Science House Mobile STEM Lab visited our school to deliver an engaging, hands-on learning experience focused on the science of vaping. This impactful activity was coordinated by Mrs. Andrews and involved active participation from Ms. Aumentado’s and Ms. Harrison’s classes.
During the session, students explored common misconceptions about vaping, analyzed current research, and conducted hands-on investigations examining the effects of vape substances. The interactive format encouraged critical thinking, collaboration, and meaningful discussion, allowing students to connect scientific concepts to real-world health issues.
Ms. Marsha Sirkin, the program facilitator, shared positive feedback about the experience, stating, “I really enjoyed it and was thankful to get to work with your kiddos. They were so thoughtful and engaged.” Her reflection highlights the students’ enthusiasm and the success of the program in fostering curiosity and awareness.
Overall, the visit from the Science House provided a valuable STEM learning opportunity that not only deepened students’ scientific understanding but also promoted informed decision-making about health and wellness.

Your dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence continue to make us proud. Keep soaring, Eagles! 🦅
